GNG Netball Club

CLUB OVERVIEW

GNG Netball Club is a friendly club based in Gravesend. Our ethos is to welcome anyone who may want to be involved in netball, whether that be from just attending training sessions or also playing competitively. We want to ensure netball is available for all those who may wish to participate, regardless of their background or experience.

GNG Netball Club was established in 2013 by Bal Johal and Kalwant Gill. They had a vision of a Netball Club supporting several teams of varying ages and welcoming those from all backgrounds. With help from The GNG Sports Club, they managed to set up GNG Netball Club. Initially training was held at Holy Trinity School with just a handful of ladies. Training sessions started progressing after the club secured a Level 1 Coach. The Club is extremely grateful for her knowledge and expertise that she brought to the club, enabling the players to compete competitively in a league.

These sessions were held in various venues, depending on weather, facilities etc. Training is now held at Cobham Girls school on Monday evenings. GNG Netball Club formed netball teams to play competitively in The Medway League, Rainham, starting in the lower division and over the years has progressed up the League Table. In 2017 Phoenix Gold Netball Team merged with the GNG Netball Team and both teams were managed under GNG Netball Club, with Phoenix Gold playing competitively in the Whiteoaks League in Swanley.

Since then the Phoenix Gold club and team have fully merged with GNG Netball Club. 2018 saw the introduction of a junior team GNG GEMS, who were coached by two Level 2 coaches, through their dedication and hard work the GEMS entered their first league in 2019. As membership for the juniors grew, a further two teams were created, Stars & Diamonds. As our junior teams have progressed to our Ladies teams we now have three ladies teams, GNG Jade, GNG Swanley Ladies and GNG Rainham Ladies, playing competitively in both the Medway and Whiteoak netball leagues. The club continues to develop and grow, with the introduction of a junior training team in 2023 and a fourth junior team, Pearls in 2024.
