Akaal Martial Arts (AMA)
CLUB OVERVIEW
Akaal Martial Arts (AMA) is a club that embodies the Sikh ethos of the ‘Sant Sipahi’ or ‘Saint-Soldier’, striving to cultivate individuals who are adept in both spiritual and martial disciplines. The philosophy of Akaal Martial Arts is deeply rooted in the Sikh tradition, which emphasizes the development of spiritual wisdom alongside physical prowess. At Akaal Martial Arts, the training goes beyond physical conditioning; it is a holistic approach that integrates the intense and rigorous practice of Muay Thai with the tranquillity and depth of meditation. This unique blend aims to forge not just formidable martial artists and fighters but also individuals who possess a profound understanding of strategic positioning, tactical combat, and the mental fortitude that comes from meditative practices.
The curriculum is designed to instill a high level of proficiency in Muay Thai, which is known for its beauty and effectiveness as a martial art. Students learn to master various techniques, from striking to clinching, all while maintaining a state of inner peace and clarity achieved through meditation. The goal is to produce well-rounded individuals who can navigate combat challenges with a calm and centred mind, embodying the true spirit of a ‘Sant Sipahi’. In essence, Akaal Martial Arts is not just about learning to fight; it’s about embarking on a journey of self-discovery, where the art of combat becomes a pathway to personal growth and spiritual enlightenment.
Gops started his journey in martial arts over two decades ago, with the sweet science of boxing laying the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of combat excellence. As his skills sharpened and his thirst for challenge grew, Gops ventured into the dynamic realms of Kickboxing and K1. Competing in both arts, his natural talent and hard-earned prowess in these disciplines were undeniable, leading him to the hallowed grounds of professional Muay Thai. In Thailand, the birthplace of this revered art, Gops trained amongst the elite whilst absorbing the wisdom of the ancients and refining his techniques. Under the mentorship of esteemed figures like Joe Rittijak and Wech Pinyo, Gops has also trained with Kru Jeng, who is the head coach at Superbon gym. Gops’ achievements and the breadth of his experience reflect the profound impact he has had as both a competitor and a mentor in martial arts.
